Craft Makers Grant Fund – Rosemary James Trust
23/08/2018 – Rosemary James Memorial Trust Award is now Open for Craft Makers in Northern Ireland
Rosemary (Rosy) James maintained a lifelong commitment to the arts as well as to her birthplace of Northern Ireland. Rosy died in 2010, having bequeathed over £500,000 to establish an annual bursary in her name to help Northern Ireland’s artists, designers and makers to pursue their careers.
An award of up to £15,000 may be made in the form of a bursary. The financial support offered through this award aims to assist makers to investigate and develop a body of work which would otherwise be unaffordable.
The main thrust of the award is to be directed towards the body of work but may also provide assistance towards the following:
- Travel abroad to pursue additional skills, training or research.
- Residencies/master classes.
- Research (materials, technology, practices).
- Collaboration with makers and artists in other disciplines.
The award is open to applications from makers who:
- have made a contribution to artistic activities in Northern Ireland for a minimum period of one year within the last five years, and
- are professionally engaged.
Applications are being accepted until 4pm on Thursday 18 October 2018.
